A good quality photograph is always a nice choice in the most varied uses.. Whether you’re designing a website, a presentation, a product box or a business card, a good photo can add that extra touch of professionalism and that nature look you were looking for..

So, to help you get all the photos you need, i’ve assembled a group of websites where you can get stock photographs for free. Well, when i say “for free” i mean that you can get the photos for free, but some websites have use restrictions on the images, mostly granting you only the right to use the image in a non-commercial way.. that means you can use the image in whatever way you want, as long as you don’t sell the results.. for instance: you can’t use the image on a business card that someone hired you to design..

To help you, i’ve added the copyright restrictions to the website’s descriptions.. so, here it goes:

www.sxc.hu - Here you can find all kinds of high-resolution photographs for free. The photos are submitted by users, and you can use the images in any way you want since you don’t use the images in any “unlawful or other immoral purposes”. You can’t also sell the images or do commercial work with them without the creator’s knowledge.. you can see the whole licence here. To download the photos, you have to sign up to the website.

morgueFile - Another place to get free stock pictures that are uploaded by members. The images have very good quality and are free for commercial use, as long as you don’t break their rules.

Stockvault - A very large place to download photos for your non-commercial projects.. All the images in here have a Creative Commons Licence.. full details here.

openphoto - Another free photo download website.. In this one, the users select the licence they want.. so you can see that different photos have different licences for you to respect..

bigphoto - This website has pictures of many places in the world divided through location.. Not all the images have high-resolution, but you can use the images for free even in commercial work if you respect their rules. 

FreePhotosBank - Well, here the photos are mostly of small resolutions, but they have a large selection.. You have to contact the owner of the pictures to ask for permission to use them..

ImageAfter - You can find in this website lots of images, from photos to textures and even Photoshop brushes all for free.. You can use the images in commercial and non-commercial work.
